Monkey Brain to One Track Mind

Yoga Therapy by Dayna

Introducing One Track Mind – Your Gateway to Mental Focus

Enjoy a little bit of fun as you boogie down to these Texas born artists' song. Are you ready to experience the power of a one-track mind through yoga? Join us this week at Yoga by Dayna for a sneak preview into our transformative Spotify single, One Track Mind. We are having a little fun with this since my sister Debra Watson is launching her new single in Spain!

Listen to One Track Mind

You will clearly hear my harmonies on the track. Click to hear the new single, One Track Mind, written by Debra Watson and Howard Kalish, harmonies written and sung by Dayna Culwell. Discover how yoga can help you transition from a scattered 'monkey mind' to a focused and centered state of being. But, there's much more to cover.

Lumbar Pain & Spasms

Today we will look at a stretch that is particularly helpful for tight hip flexors. Common to both Yoga Therapy and Pilates Mat, a modified version of the lunge pose is useful if your psoas or iliopsoas are too tight. How would you know? What you might notice is that you display "cheerleader butt". The pelvis tips forward because it is being pulled forward. This creates pressure on your low back extensors.

The iliopsoas muscle starts out in the lumbar vertebrae. It travels behind your organs and inserts into the lesser trochanter of the femur (the inside of your thigh). Tightness of the psoas can result in spasms or lower back pain by compressing the lumbar discs, resulting in postural problems like Lumbar Lordosis.

Displayed Left & Below: The Modified Lunge Pose

Through stress or repetitive activity, sitting down for long periods of time, constant contraction of the psoas muscle limits range of movement in the hip joints and puts pressure on the surrounding hip flexors causing an imbalance in the pelvis. Learn more below or with me!

I'll be here all week to guide you in person through the journey of mental clarity and inner peace. Let's embark on this empowering path together.

This week we enjoyed staying in a 100 year old STR in a neighborhood called "Hard Bargain" in Franklin, Tennessee. The granddaughters loved seeing the tall ceilings, old dark wooden floors, and learning a little bit about Tennessee history. (They also wore us out with their wonderful gymnastics, swim, and even guitar classes!)

Now I am back to studying Pilates all this weekend. Join me this month as I begin to introduce a few basic Mat Pilates moves into your sessions if I think they may be able to help you.
