Sizzle Without the Fizzle As the heat takes over! Hey all you stressed out professional folks! And you, you retired folks who thought life would be so calm once you were done with your career. And you, you whose daily routine needs energizing. Hey, it will soon become too hot to sizzle down the block. How do you stay fit, flexible, and lean without having to go to the gym? All you Longhorns take note! This gorgeous Longhorn who my nephew David Watson captured by iphone at the amazing Klein Ranch in Blanco, TX, was ready to lap up anything appealing that came his way. In the same way, I hope that you will lap up this delicious solution I present to you today. Granted, I could tell you about my 40 years as a daily gym rat. I was the one with the "serious" look on my face when I walked over to the elliptical bike, walkman and earplugs in gear. I could read, listen, walk or jog, AND even watch the t.v. screen above. It was all I could do to carve out 40 minutes for gym work in my sales career. No time for chit chat. You go what you gotta do. For so many years, it worked.
Then, I discovered hot yoga. Awesome experience for about 2 years. It helped me find a quiet moment during my last 2 years of pharmaceutical sales when stress was at an all time high. This period was a time of learning to date again, while continuing to work a full time job, and while keeping my sweet Portuguese Water Dog happy, as I strived to preserve my spiritual life healthy and stay sane. One day, it may have been the day I sold my little Suburu truck, I decided that hot yoga was just too stinky for me. The idea of putting sweaty clothing and a smelly yoga mat into my beautiful new-used Acura did not sound appealing. My dear nephew, Ethan, who later purchased my Acura, probably appreciated my decision to change modalities. The big question I asked myself was this: could I do yoga with less sweat and still feel like I'd gotten a good work out? Granted, I was still in work out mode. The zen idea was still in development. If I lived up north, a warm yoga room would probably be the best thing ever. However, practicing yoga in Texas, where it's already in the 90's most of the year, made me think differently. How could I enjoy an air conditioned room, practice yoga, and still burn calories? Yes, this is how my Type A++ brain works. What if I could add some resistance training to my yoga? It almost sounded counterintuitive. How would I continue the zen feeling that yoga provides? This has been my work in progress for the last 5-6 years. Some of you hopped on board immediately. Fitbodies, who I work for when I teach and travel abroad, presented a workshop with CoreFirst Bands.
The course invited group fitness teachers, Pilates instructors, and a few Yoga instructors like me. I embraced the idea 100% and have never looked back. I still thoroughly love and believe in a doing a straight yoga flow or yoga deep stretch class 2-3 times per week. Adding the CoreFirst bands once or twice a week simply enhances the deep stretch, the deep strengthening, and the demanding balance work we all are looking for. Did I mention core? Oh yes!! Close your eyes as you do a yoga pose with CoreFirst bands wrapped around your wrists or your ankles and experience your core muscles waking up. These bands first helped me to properly do a sit-up without overusing my neck muscles. Seriously! Best to get in a slot THIS week. Where we are staying in Blanchard, ID is at least one hour away from all our activities. But that's where Bill's ol' time share is. So, please stay abreast of any schedule changes I send out. What’s Happening at Yoga by Dayna THIS week This will be our super early Monday biking trip to the Hiawatha Trail. It's an all day excursion through beautiful trails all around Coeur d'Alene. We "get" to leave our hotel at 5:50 am in order to meet our hosts on time. What's up THIS week at Yoga by Dayna Well, if you happen to travel to Fredericksburg, TX, less than 1 mile away from Vino Vida Airbnb is a lovely hike to Cross Mountain. Unbelievable views of Fbg and surrounding Hill Country. Bring your doggie companion. Lots of recent aesthetic updates that you will love.

Please send me a challenge--something that is bugging you. This could be a physical or mental "itch", pain, or trauma. And I would be honored to do my best to address it. Remember that you are NEVER alone in your pain. Those who suffer as you suffer need to know that they are not on a solo journey. Me included! Yoga Therapists are not immune to pain and problems. As you might have guessed, we are drawn to our work because of our own struggles. We are fascinated by the body. The more we understand its intricate workings, the more we have a chance at recalibrating all of its challenges. I honestly believe that God put me on this earth with a rather crooked spine with the idea that I would be challenged substantially in order to help my own body and be able to help others. This is why I need YOU, your issues, your needs. This is MY purpose. I have over 1500 hours of training to assist. The more challenging YOUR issues are, the more I am challenged to UP my game in order to help YOU and others with similar issues. 17022 Trail of the Woods, Austin, TX, USA Share on social LEARN HOW YOGA BY DAYNA CAN HELP YOU!
