Finding your space among family

Did you watch the Cowboys play or did you see the international dog show? I chose to do both. I sat strategically where I could see the dog show up close (priorities) and the game just around the corner. Both shows were spectacular! I've included this snapshot of a little girl and her dog because it simply warmed my heart. The announcer was reciting from the "Ode to Dogs" poem and it was so sweet. There is something to be said for that connection one feels with a pet. Experiencing a sunset is awesome. Watching it with a dog is even more awesome. Just something about it.

Thanksgiving brings out a host of emotions.

Whether you traveled to see friends or family or they came to you, it's usually a big production. When it's all said and done, the stories stay with you. In the same way, spending lots of time with family sometimes calls for a need for space. And that's ok too. You must give yourself permission to take a break from the socializing. The picture below is the result of my grandpuppy Peaches and I at the very top of the Headrick Trail. It is a wonderful trail to share with family, which we did. However, when you're close to reaching the top, you simply go straight up! As we approached that point, two young boys returning from the top reiterated twice that the last part of the climb is way steep and to "Please be careful mam". That's when the adrenaline hits. As if you're doing something naughty or dangerous, the next steps become very exciting.

It's rather impossible to capture the beauty with a photo. I was trying to get a selfie with Peaches, but she too was too busy trying to see everything and take it all in!

And so, you get Peaches' side view. OH well! So, now thinking back on the last few days, how do you feel about them? What was your most magical moment? Was there a moment when you felt constrained or overwhelmed? Which persons did you get to know a little better? What did you learn new?

Every experience with family is an opportunity to reflect. Being able to reflect without in-the moment-emotion presents an opportunity to evolve.

Planning for December

Whew, you're down to the last month of 2022. How can you make December a really great experience? May I suggest you set aside a few hours each week to replenish and rejuvenate? In the past, it was always a challenge to get to the gym in the busy holiday season. With online classes, all this has improved your chances of getting in your yoga practice. The classes we are doing here at Yoga by Dayna incorporate all of your suggestions. They are ideal for any age but those in their 50's and 60's seem to give the most praise.

Which class is right for you?

The Delicious Deep Stretch class is accessible to almost anyone, provided you can get down on the floor. The next step is our Half & Half yoga on Fridays at 10 a.m. The next level is Perfect Posture Yoga. Check out the schedule and give it a try. I have several folks paying direct with Venmo (@Dayna-Culwell). That works for me too. Otherwise, I can save your CC into SquareSpace. All classes are in studio as well as on Zoom. Simply email me your email address to get you on the invite list. A simple click gets you into class.
